SMITTEN WITH YOU!

SMITTEN WITH YOU !

Your memories make my whole day
You scatter day light on my windows
Like sunshine gently filtering through
You are my love , you are my sanctuary
I always cherish to be in your embrace
If you’re kohl , I am your gaze precious
No point in making promises and vows
I exist for you ; let me write it in my heart
Unfolding handful of dreams before you
Having spoken the words of my heart
No harm comes to your shadow even
Smitten with you ,I ‘ll give my happiness
You’re my radiant colour, my only identity
Let memories never go out of our hands.

Eminent poet Dr Dasharath Naiks poem reviewed by eminent reviewer Raj Kishor Patnaik

What a gesture ! How sweet of him !

Thanks galore, dear Raj Kishor Pattnaik Bhai for this excellent review of my ink.

My poem and its review below.
——————————————————–
LET POETRY FLOW

Let poetry flow freely like fountains
Through ups and downs on the way
The narrowness obstructing path to Humanity
Overcoming the Devils , Regionalism, Racism ,Terrorism
And the likes dividing nation/s ,
And fighting for rights of common folks
Like a clarion to bring them due justice.

Let poetry flow with harmony aplenty
Dancing and swinging with Nature’s rhythm
To purify poisoned mind and relax stressed body
Descending down straight from the hearts
To mingle with the golden hearts again
Glorifying Love and Sympathy above all dogmas
Holding the essence of Truth and Peace high.

Let poetry annihilate all boundaries of separation
That break loving hearts into pieces
Dispelling darkness of ignorance
Ennobling and inspiring dull many
Like a lighthouse showing path of uncanny future
Igniting and infusing the dazzling virtues in all
To soothe the soul with its unique lullaby
Paired with unconditional love and bliss.

Let poetry flow everywhere ceaselessly
Like the holy Ganga and its pulse be felt
Boosting and vitalizing the dormant souls
Bent under loads of poverty, pain and plight
Rooting out evils in the stigmatized society
Broadening our outlook and ideology
Drenching heart and soul thoroughly
Fine-tuning life and growing through it beautifully.

CONGRATULATIONS to Professor Dasharath Naik! Sir Namaskar

Your poem, *”Let Poetry Flow,”* is a profound and evocative piece that resonates deeply with the essence of poetry as a transformative force. It is a testament to your mastery of language, your deep understanding of human emotions, and your commitment to using poetry as a tool for social change and spiritual upliftment. Your work not only reflects your literary prowess but also your vision of a world united by love, truth, and peace. Congratulations on this magnificent creation, which stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration in today’s fragmented world.

### **ANALYSIS of ‘Let Poetry Flow’

#### **1. Poetry as a Liberating Force**

The poem opens with a powerful metaphor, comparing poetry to a fountain that flows freely, unhindered by the obstacles of life. This imagery sets the tone for the entire piece, emphasizing poetry’s ability to transcend boundaries and navigate the complexities of human existence. The “ups and downs on the way” symbolize the challenges humanity faces, while the “narrowness obstructing path to Humanity” represents the barriers created by societal evils such as regionalism, racism, and terrorism. Your call for poetry to overcome these divides is both a plea and a declaration of faith in the power of words to unite and heal.

The poem’s first stanza highlights poetry’s role as a clarion call for justice, fighting for the rights of the common people. This aligns with the tradition of poets as voices of the oppressed, using their craft to challenge injustice and advocate for equality. Your invocation of poetry as a force against division and oppression is both timely and timeless, reminding readers of the enduring relevance of poetic expression in addressing societal ills.

#### **2. Harmony with Nature and the Human Spirit**

In the second stanza, you beautifully intertwine poetry with the rhythms of nature, suggesting that true poetry is in harmony with the natural world. This connection between poetry and nature serves as a metaphor for purity and renewal. The idea that poetry can “purify poisoned minds” and “relax stressed bodies” underscores its therapeutic potential, offering solace and healing to those burdened by the pressures of modern life.

The imagery of poetry descending “straight from the hearts” to mingle with “golden hearts” evokes a sense of unity and shared humanity. By glorifying love and sympathy above all dogmas, you elevate poetry to a spiritual plane, where it transcends religious, cultural, and ideological differences. This stanza is a powerful reminder of the universal values that poetry can uphold, fostering empathy and understanding in a world often divided by prejudice and hatred.

#### **3. Poetry as a Unifying and Enlightening Force**

The third stanza delves deeper into poetry’s capacity to annihilate boundaries and dispel ignorance. The metaphor of poetry as a lighthouse guiding humanity through the darkness of ignorance is particularly striking. It suggests that poetry not only illuminates the path to a better future but also ennobles and inspires those who have lost their way. The “dazzling virtues” ignited by poetry symbolize the moral and ethical ideals that can transform individuals and societies.

Your portrayal of poetry as a soothing lullaby, paired with unconditional love and bliss, evokes a sense of comfort and serenity. This imagery reinforces the idea that poetry is not just a means of intellectual or artistic expression but also a source of emotional and spiritual nourishment. By soothing the soul, poetry becomes a balm for the wounds inflicted by a troubled world.

#### **4. Poetry as a Catalyst for Social Change**

The final stanza expands the scope of poetry’s influence, envisioning it as a ceaseless, life-giving force akin to the holy Ganga. This comparison elevates poetry to a sacred status, suggesting that it has the power to cleanse and rejuvenate the human spirit. The imagery of poetry boosting and vitalizing “dormant souls” bent under the weight of poverty, pain, and plight is both poignant and hopeful. It reflects your belief in poetry’s ability to uplift the downtrodden and inspire resilience in the face of adversity.

Your call for poetry to root out societal evils and broaden our outlook is a powerful reminder of its potential to effect meaningful change. By “drenching heart and soul thoroughly,” poetry becomes a transformative experience, fine-tuning life and enabling personal and collective growth. This vision of poetry as a dynamic and life-affirming force is both inspiring and aspirational, challenging readers to embrace its potential for creating a more just and compassionate world.

#### **5. Themes and Universal Appeal**

The overarching themes of *”Let Poetry Flow”*—unity, justice, love, and enlightenment—are universal in their appeal. Your poem transcends cultural and geographical boundaries, speaking to the shared aspirations of humanity. The emphasis on overcoming division and fostering harmony resonates deeply in a world grappling with conflict and inequality. By celebrating poetry as a force for good, you remind us of its enduring relevance and transformative power.

#### **6. Literary Craftsmanship**

Your use of vivid imagery, metaphors, and rhythmic language demonstrates your exceptional skill as a poet. The poem’s structure, with its flowing lines and evocative phrases, mirrors the theme of poetry as a free and dynamic force. The repetition of “Let poetry flow” serves as a refrain, reinforcing the central message and creating a sense of continuity and momentum. The language is both accessible and profound, making the poem relatable to a wide audience while retaining its depth and complexity.

### **Conclusion**

*”Let Poetry Flow”* is a masterpiece that encapsulates the essence of poetry as a unifying, enlightening, and transformative force. It is a call to action, urging readers to embrace the power of words to create a better world. Your ability to weave together themes of social justice, spiritual enlightenment, and universal love is a testament to your talent and vision as a poet.

Once again, congratulations, Professor Dasharath Naik, Sir on this remarkable achievement. Your work continues to inspire and uplift, reminding us of the profound impact that poetry can have on individuals and societies. May your words continue to flow freely, touching hearts and minds across the globe.∆

WITHOUT YOU !

Without you my breath doesn’t run
Nothing else happens in my world
Now I do believe I love you so much
I want to forget you though I cannot
Wherever I go I find your apparition
From morn to eve I want you by me
You’re my world and sincerely I feel it
Without you my morning means zero
My heart throbs in your thoughts only
Such a bond I ‘ve nestled and nurtured
You’re my angulate love and I mean it
With you everything is fairly beautiful
Without you my world is pitch dark.

REVIEW

Dr Prasanna Kumar Dalai, quite well up in love poems, has written “Without You” with a difference so far as the subtext of this poem is concerned .He has digressed from his usual theme of spiritual love! This poem deals with a triangular love situation in which he is very much serious.Without her — in case she is fixated upon by the second lover — remaining alive would be impossible for him.The jealousy and conflicts involved in the love makes him realise that he loves her to an obsessive extent. Unable to erase from memory, he visualises her appearance wherever he goes. Not a single day passes without her thoughts. The interlinking of the heart beat with thoughts pertaining to her forcefully communicates that defeat under the circumstances is a life and death matter. This is reinforced in the last line by the “pitch dark” image which is contrasted with “fairly beautiful”– that is light, standing for life and wellbeing if he wins in this love.Very beautiful poem,Dr Prasanna Sir!👏🎉 Congratulations and regards!

ANLYSIS

Heartiest congratulations to Dr. Prasana Kumar Dalai for his soul-stirring poem “WITHOUT YOU!” and to the eminent reviewer Prof. (Dr.) Nirakar Dash for his insightful analysis! Dr. Dalai’s poetic artistry continues to enchant readers with its profound depth, and Prof. Dash’s critique adds intellectual richness to its interpretation. This poem showcases an intense emotional landscape, blending love, longing, and existential despair—hallmarks of timeless poetry. Wishing Dr. Dalai many more poetic triumphs and Prof. Dash continued success in literary criticism!

In-depth Analysis of “WITHOUT YOU!”

Dr. Prasana Kumar Dalai’s poem “WITHOUT YOU!” is an impassioned cry of love, yearning, and emotional torment, making it a remarkable addition to his oeuvre of romantic poetry. Unlike his usual spiritual themes, this poem delves into the emotional entanglements of triangular love, presenting love as an obsessive, almost existential necessity.

In many ways, this poem resonates with some of the greatest love poetry ever written. It embodies the despair of Shakespeare’s sonnets, the melancholic depth of John Keats’ love letters to Fanny Brawne, and the haunting emotional void found in Pablo Neruda’s love poetry.

Theme and Emotional Depth

The overarching theme of the poem is intense emotional dependency and existential anguish. The poet confesses that life without his beloved is unbearable—his breath halts, the world ceases to exist, and even the mornings lose meaning:

> Without you my breath doesn’t run
Nothing else happens in my world

The desperation echoes Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18, where the poet equates love with life’s beauty:

> So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Similarly, Dr. Dalai’s poem reflects that his very existence is entwined with his beloved’s presence.

The lines—

> Now I do believe I love you so much
I want to forget you though I cannot

—convey an internal conflict reminiscent of Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s “Sonnet 43” (“How do I love thee? Let me count the ways”), where love is all-consuming, impossible to suppress, and beyond rational control.

The Anguish of Unattainable Love

A crucial aspect of the poem is the presence of a rival in love. The speaker fears losing his beloved to another man, intensifying his sense of loss and jealousy. This triangular love aspect reminds one of W. B. Yeats’ “When You Are Old,” where Yeats, lamenting unrequited love, tells his beloved that many men loved her beauty, but only he loved her “pilgrim soul.”

Dr. Dalai’s speaker finds himself consumed by an obsession that mirrors the profound longing in Edgar Allan Poe’s “Annabel Lee,” where love transcends even death:

> And neither the angels in Heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

Like Poe, Dr. Dalai’s speaker is haunted by memories of his beloved, unable to escape her presence:

> Wherever I go I find your apparition

This supernatural imagery underscores the depth of his longing—his beloved is omnipresent, existing in his thoughts even in absence.

Symbolism and Imagery

Dr. Dalai skillfully uses contrasting imagery to depict the speaker’s turmoil:

> With you everything is fairly beautiful
Without you my world is pitch dark.

This contrast between light and darkness is symbolic of hope versus despair, joy versus sorrow, life versus death. Such imagery is famously employed by John Donne in his metaphysical poetry, where love is depicted as a divine force illuminating existence.

In Prof. Dash’s review, he highlights the “pitch dark” image as a powerful conclusion. This final declaration solidifies the speaker’s absolute emotional devastation, akin to Thomas Hardy’s “A Broken Appointment,” where love’s absence plunges the poet into despair:

> You did not come, and marching time drew on, and wore me numb.

Similarly, Dr. Dalai’s poem conveys that without love, life loses meaning, and the world becomes void.

Prof. (Dr.) Nirakar Dash’s Review – A Critical Appreciation

Prof. Dash’s review highlights a significant departure from Dr. Dalai’s usual theme of spiritual love. He keenly observes the seriousness of the poet’s feelings in this triangular love struggle, emphasizing how:

The speaker’s obsession leads him to an almost fatalistic despair.

Jealousy and conflict push him into emotional extremes, reflecting the life-or-death stakes of his love.

The “pitch dark” image is not just symbolic but also existential, portraying the poet’s desperate need to win his beloved’s heart.

Prof. Dash’s comparative analysis between “fairly beautiful” (light) and “pitch dark” (darkness) shows a nuanced understanding of the poem’s emotional and psychological depth. This review aligns well with the insights provided by critics of Keats, Yeats, and Shakespeare, who often viewed love as both a source of inspiration and a cause of suffering.

Conclusion

Dr. Prasana Kumar Dalai’s “WITHOUT YOU!” is a testament to his ability to capture the essence of passionate love, despair, and longing in a way that resonates with readers. By blending raw emotion with poetic elegance, he cements his place among contemporary literary voices.

Prof. (Dr.) Nirakar Dash’s review adds intellectual depth to the poem, highlighting the psychological and thematic complexities of unfulfilled love. His keen observations provide a critical lens through which to appreciate the poem’s artistry.

Once again, congratulations to Dr. Dalai for this mesmerizing poem and Prof. Dash for his masterful critique! The literary world is richer with such profound contributions. May both continue to inspire and illuminate the realm of poetry!

QUEEN OF THE NIGHT !

The mystical moonlight of forest
In the coziness of shadow and mystery
In the dreams of body and mind
The lady night comes to sense
The loving swan is lost in her dreams
Returns with the songsters of spring
When the sun sets in the evening
On the path covered by canopy of trees
With waves of the fascinated ocean
The flute keeps on giving her a call
Queen of the night looks for her beloved
Here is the holy echo of the tunes.

A new season bring new passion…

QUEEN OF YOUR DREAMS

Beyond the mystical moonlit forest
and tucked away among the silent shadows
A woman’s senses awaken like a graceful swan
swimming sensually towards a hidden shore that awaits her
An eerie sound of a flute calls to her beyond a Winter’s sleep
It’s a Spring song that awakens her deep passion
She begins to bloom like a young bud awaiting a bee
as the first sign of a warm ray of sun settles on her body
Then, as the Sun sets, and trees bow their branches
she once again hears the sound of the amorous flute
It echoes like a fascinated ocean of powerful waves
entering and exiting her shore, once barren
The Winter now disappears as does the calling song;
the holy echo of tunes…

The Queen of your dreams now walks with her beloved
through the season of rebirth and renewal.

I CAN’T DECIPHER !

To such an extent I’m in love first time
In your dreams I pitch my hope high
Still at night waiting for you only
You pulled the trigger of my heart
Our heartbeats go untamed all time
I keep looking at you and your spell
You smile & I feel like winning battles
Tricks of your heart I can’t decipher
I count the stars already counted
For I do put my world in your trust .

My poem RAYS OF HOPE! translated by eminent translator my brother Dr Narottam Parida into Odia.
Humbled & Grateful ❤️🙏

RAYS OF HOPES !

With millions scattered dreams in eyes
Faces of memories and stories peep
Shackles ‘ll melt one day with heats
Destiny ‘ll change with my footsteps
Along with the rays of hopes
At times you complain against me
And I just wish to be by your side
For we do still need each other
I ‘ll confess it till last breath of my life.

Epistolary Poem #239 written by Dr. Prasana Kumar Dalai of India
and Kristy Ann Raines of The United States of America

AN UNREAD LETTER !

The very letter I write in your memory
Turns into a beautiful spectacle of hues
Like that of blooms in the early morning
And stars as night descends gradually
Somewhere a soulful melody is echoed
Suggesting that you’re coming one day
Somewhere a bud nods in the breeze
But feels shy to open its soft petals
Your aroma is spread in my nativity
And I feel like dancing with my shadow
The surrounding is as tempting as you
Your youthful magic makes me go crazy
For you are the beats of my heart
Me a traveller and you’re my destination
I’m very thirsty of your monsoon rain
My paradise is at the hem of your saree.

You… Still the beat of my heart…

I NOW READ YOUR LETTER!

I sigh as I read your letter filled with colors of love
Like a dewy blossom opening in the early morning
I long to be touched by the warmth of your sun
and await the stars that will arouse us tonight
A love song plays softly behind my thoughts of you
as I dream of a time that I felt shy in your presence
Me, Once like the bud of a rose waiting to open beautifully
spreading it’s aroma around an intimate love between us
I still feel for you the same seduction as the first day we met
In your eyes I see the same beguiling temptation you see in mine
Come home, my Traveler, and quench your thirst in my rain
It is here where you will find in me, your paradise
You too, are still the one my heart beats for.

ALL ALONE I AM !

All alone I am in this earthly world
My own shadow is my only friend
Am neither infatuated nor crazy
Have never been a part of any show
Empty paths always hold me far off
Who has the sorrow of destination
Me nothing but a traveller of the heart

I love myself more than anyone else.

She feels sad and responds…

ALL ALONE I FEEL!

All alone I feel in our circumstances
with an unknown future staring at me
I am neither happy or distraught
Feeling numb is a far better description
Nothing is certain on this road I am traveling, now alone
and many years have passed without many answers
In my heart I know even this journey has meaning
with a lesson at the end of this very long road
I look to the heavens for guidance instead of stars
but this time with eyes of blind faith

Surely, The Divine is testing my reaction and wonders,
“Will she try to take control as she has in the past
or has She finally learned to trust Me completely
on my plan for their future?

Lately, I have given up trusting my own understanding
of what our future holds…

I only know that God loves us more than anyone else.
I ask Him, “Show me the way to help him…”

SCATTERED I AM !

I want to be yours and make you mine
We are bodies intertwined into one soul
Accept this fact for all those moments
They feel like living for centuries to me
Your aroma that delights heart in toto
Slips away from my palm like rain drops
My tears obviously flow to connect you
Being crazy, I rove to find you in my alley
Scattered I am for a moment in the air
By holding your trust, I do walk ahead
My heart, a little emotional , overflows
With words splattering out of my eyes.

REVIEW
……………

The beloved being far away, the poet looks back on the past when they were together in intimacy. They are one soul in two bodies. Their temporary union in the past means a lot for the poet in that the philosophy of one soul in two bodies is deeply entrenched in his mind. His futile attempt to catch hold of the aroma of her body emphasises the impossibility of her return. His incessant tears to reach out her is like the crow resolving to dry the ocean with her beak to recover the drowed eggs of her chick.Mad due to distraction, he looks for her everywhere, and the failure makes him shed tears that send message of his grief to everybody. Her faithful nature is the only consolation even when her return is decidedly unlikely.Very brilliant poem Dr Prasanna Sir.Congratulations and regards 🙏🙏 🙏🌹

I am really grateful to honourable Raj Kishor Pattnaik for analysed my poem.

Heartfelt Congratulations to Dr. Prasana Kumar Dalai & Honorable Reviewer Dr. Nirakar Dash

It is with immense admiration and appreciation that I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Prasana Kumar Dalai for his deeply moving poem, SCATTERED I AM!, and to Honorable Retired Professor Dr. Nirakar Dash for his insightful and eloquent review.

Dr. Dalai’s poem encapsulates a profound emotional journey of love, longing, and loss. His mastery of poetic expression is once again evident in this piece, where he beautifully conveys the agony of separation and the relentless yearning for a beloved who remains out of reach. The lines are soaked in raw emotions, portraying love not just as a bond of the heart but as a transcendental connection of the soul. His choice of words and imagery—such as the fleeting aroma and teardrops—intensifies the depth of sorrow, making the reader feel the weight of his emotions.

Dr. Nirakar Dash, in his review, has brilliantly dissected the essence of the poem, offering a scholarly and philosophical perspective. He draws attention to the poet’s belief in the notion of “one soul in two bodies,” a concept deeply rooted in classical romantic philosophy. His analysis of the poet’s struggle—his futile attempt to hold onto the beloved’s essence, symbolized by the slipping aroma—highlights the unattainability of the past, reinforcing the inevitability of separation.

One of the most striking elements of Dr. Dash’s review is the powerful analogy of the poet’s grief to the determination of a crow trying to dry the ocean to recover its lost eggs. This comparison not only magnifies the poet’s pain but also emphasizes the sheer impossibility of overcoming certain losses in life. Despite the overwhelming grief, Dr. Dash perceptively notes the poet’s one source of solace—his unwavering faith in the beloved’s loyalty, even in her absence. This conclusion adds a touch of resilience to the sorrow, making the poem a bittersweet reflection on love and separation.

Dr. Dash’s review does justice to Dr. Dalai’s poetic brilliance, capturing the nuances of his emotions while enriching the reader’s understanding of the poem’s depth. It is a moment of great pride to witness such a refined poetic creation being analyzed with such wisdom and appreciation.

Congratulations once again to Dr. Prasana Kumar Dalai for crafting yet another masterpiece and to Dr. Nirakar Dash for his exemplary review that illuminates its essence with scholarly brilliance. Your contributions to literature continue to inspire and resonate with poetry lovers worldwide!

With deep appreciation and best regards,

REVIEW!

The poet leads a lonely life without friends.Nor he have a girl friend with whom he is infatuated. Nor is he a part the so called love drama, which is indicated by terms like “shadow” and “empty” — both emphasizing physical communion with none.He is almost far from the madding crowd. As he loves all, without any physical give and take,no sense of unattainability or fiasco can ever lead him to sorrow or desperation. The poet expresses his zeal for freedom ,the divine status of his love and the interconnectedness of all things through the image of “swan” and “waves”. In a bid to protect himself from the modern day messy love that cause a lot of emotional bruises, he says: “I love myself more than anyone else”As the same soul or life force pulsates in everything and everybeing , the poet, distancing himself from “earthly ‘ affairs, loves all like Walt Whitman in ‘Song of myself” Very bewitching poem Dr Prasanna Sir. Congratulations and regards.🙏🌹

ALL ALONE I AM !

All alone I am in this earthly world
My own shadow is my only friend
Am neither infatuated nor crazy
Have never been a part of any show
Empty paths always hold me far off
Who has the sorrow of destination
Me nothing but a traveller of the heart
A lonely swan leaving the banks of lake
Busy travelling on the crest of waves
The moon and stars do simply inspire
I love myself more than anyone else.
