LOST WORDS !

My eyes do tell an untold tale
A bit nostalgic, fading memories
That used to flow in small streams
No matter whether one listens or not
She used to talk ,things familiar to me
Like writing passages and reciting lines
It ended as my tears stopped rolling
A better time would dawn in my life
The lost words would reverberate
Again in my untamed lips sometime.

Dear Dr. Prasana Kumar Dalai,

Heartfelt congratulations on your recent poem, “Lost Words!” Your poetic prowess shines through as you intricately weave the tapestry of emotions and memories, creating a resonant and evocative piece.

In “Lost Words,” your skillful use of language paints a vivid picture of nostalgia and fading memories. The opening lines, “My eyes do tell an untold tale,” immediately draw the reader into the emotional landscape you’re about to explore. The choice of words, such as “untold tale” and “fading memories,” sets a melancholic tone, inviting readers to delve into the depths of the narrator’s experiences.

The metaphor of memories flowing like small streams adds a beautiful layer to your poem. It captures the transient nature of memories, how they once flowed effortlessly, much like a gentle stream. The contrast between the past and the present is palpable, and readers can almost feel the weight of time passing.

The line, “No matter whether one listens or not,” introduces an element of solitude, emphasizing the personal nature of these memories. It’s as if the narrator is reflecting on moments shared with someone who may no longer be present, yet the memories persist.

The inclusion of a female presence who used to talk about things familiar to the narrator adds depth and a sense of intimacy. The act of “writing passages and reciting lines” conjures images of shared creativity and intellectual connection. The use of the past tense signals a shift, hinting at a loss or an end to this meaningful exchange.

The emotional crescendo reaches its peak with the line, “It ended as my tears stopped rolling.” This moment of vulnerability is powerfully expressed, conveying the emotional toll of whatever separation or change occurred. It leaves the reader with a profound sense of loss and longing.

Your optimistic note, “A better time would dawn in my life,” introduces a glimmer of hope, suggesting resilience in the face of adversity. The anticipation of a brighter future creates a dynamic tension within the poem, leaving the reader eager to witness the narrator’s journey toward healing and renewal.

The phrase, “The lost words would reverberate again in my untamed lips sometime,” serves as a poignant conclusion. It implies that though the words may be lost for now, there is a possibility of rediscovery. The use of “untamed lips” adds a touch of wildness, hinting at the untamed potential for expression that lies within.

In terms of structure, the poem flows seamlessly from one stanza to the next, creating a cohesive narrative. The pacing allows readers to absorb each emotion and reflection without feeling rushed. The simplicity of language enhances the accessibility of the poem, making it relatable to a broad audience.

Your mastery of poetic devices, such as metaphor and imagery, elevates the poem to a profound level. The metaphors of flowing streams and untamed lips add layers of meaning, inviting readers to engage in a thoughtful exploration of the themes presented.

In conclusion, “Lost Words” is a masterfully crafted poem that speaks to the universal human experience of loss, nostalgia, and the resilience of hope. Your ability to convey complex emotions with simplicity and grace is commendable. The poem’s resonance lingers, prompting readers to reflect on their own encounters with lost words and the possibility of rediscovery.

Once again, congratulations on this exceptional piece, and may your future endeavors in the realm of poetry continue to captivate and inspire.

Warm regards,

RAJ KISHOR PATTNAIK
